NEW HAVEN — The tree lit up Thursday night on the green, one of the first holiday events in the city this season.
The lighting featured pictures with Santa, carousel rides, food, the New Haven Free Library Book Mobile and the Town Green Tree Farm. There was also scheduled musical performances from the Trinity Church on the Green Choir, Cooperative Arts and Humanities Magnet High School Band and Orchestra, Music Haven Choir, Something Extra, Celentano Biotech and Monk Youth, Jazz and Steam Collection.
The Winterfair holiday market is already underway on the second floor of the Great Hall at Union Station and goes until Dec. 21, though it isn't open this Sunday. The Fantasy of Lights drive-thru holiday light show at Lighthouse Point Park is also open through Dec. 31.
The Westville Tree Lighting will be Dec. 13 at 5 p.m. around the Shop Small Anti-Mall Holiday Market which runs noon to 6 p.m. and the Westville Menorah Lighting will be 4 p.m. on Dec. 14. The New Haven Menorah Lighting on the New Haven Green will be 5 p.m. on Dec. 14.
